As a 4th year medical student I traveled with Global Health Outreach (GHO) to Moldova in April 2014. Our team was focused on medicine and evangelism and partnered with Richard Sanders and World Team Moldova. Our trip was a resounding success both now and eternally. During our time there I learned many new things about medicine, God and myself.
Partnering with GHO allowed me the privilege of working with other Christian professionals from all over the USA. I appreciated the opportunity to learn from physicians, nurses, dentists, pastors and the translators that we worked with. As a team we had a variety of life experiences and stories that were shared to help draw us closer to Christ. I anticipate staying in touch with many of these team members and hope to work alongside of some of them again someday. I would recommend to any medical student considering a medical missions trip to consider partnering with GHO.
Our ministry was held at a small church in Coteala, Moldova. We held the clinic in the church and saw many patients with acute and chronic illness, dental issues, eyeglasses needs and most importantly spiritual needs. We also partnered with the local church and had several home visit teams that could take the care and equipment of the clinic right to the doorstep of those who couldn’t physically come to the clinic.
The evangelistic mission of the trip was the strongest and most eternal portion of our time in Moldova. We held meetings for men and women, visited a local orphanage, and visited with several local churches. Several people who visited the clinic made decisions for Christ that week. Please continue to pray for pastor Vlad and his ministry in the church in Coteala.
We praise the Lord for his protection during our time in Moldova. The medical work that was accomplished and the eternal decisions made for Him are a reflection of His faithfulness!
