ORGANIZATION

Since its founding in 1991 by Dr. Craig Hobar, LEAP has focused on providing specialized surgical services to those in need around the world. Inspired by the love of Christ, we provide medical care to primarily children who have no other options. Through our programs, LEAP volunteers give their time and expertise, show unconditional love, and humbly serve humanity. LEAP has provided free surgical care for 10,000 patients and currently does two surgical missions per year to Mexico, two to Belize, and one to Zimbabwe.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Missions Coordinator will contribute to the overall mission of LEAP Global Missions by effectively working with staff and volunteers to plan, organize, and travel on global medical mission trips and will facilitate mission relationships within the local and global communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Missions Coordinator is a full-time position and will assume an important role in the evolution of a highly respected medical mission organization. The detailed responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Meet with the Director of Missions, LEAP staff and other stakeholders on a regular basis to help organize mission trips, assure that all medical supplies are available, and review all medical volunteer applications and update the database accordingly 
  • Manage the mission trip calendar and adhere to all deadlines required for mission trip planning specific for each host country
  • Attend and provide administrative support on mission trips
  • Oversee day to day functions of Mary's Gift in collaboration with the Director of Missions and Director of Operations. 
  • Maintain and grow key relationships with partner organizations, both locally and in-country
  • Facilitate the maintenance and storing of all patient records
  • Help maintain budgetary requirements for each mission trip 
  • Review volunteer applications with the Founder/Medical Director and communicate with potential volunteers
  • Manage and organize mission trip travel logistics and administrative matters 
  • Coordinate with volunteers on packing and unpacking of medical supplies and equipment for mission trips
  • Assist with social media posts during mission trips
  • Assist with fundraising activities specific to the Mission Program

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must believe in the core values of LEAP Global Missions, will be driven by the mission, and will have the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of applicable work experience
  • Medical background preferred
  • Nonprofit and/or mission experience preferred
  • Familiarity with nonprofit administrative and operational responsibilities preferred 
  • Spiritual maturity and understanding of community and mission service
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-reliant, results oriented that reflects a high-quality product
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for working with people
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Apple products, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database management preferred
  • Social media knowledge and skills, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend travel/events/appointments as needed
  • Some physical exertion required (e.g. lifting 50 lb. supply trunks)
  • International travel required multiple times per year
