The purpose of this session is to introduce HIV care concepts to non-ID trained physicians. It is targeted toward early-career missionaries in need of a basic understanding of HIV care. Additionally, we’ll discuss the present and upcoming challenges in providing care as PEPFAR funding fades and new resources and techniques for engaging Ministries of Health become more important.

Objectives

• Describe the pathophysiology of HIV and its treatment in narrative form
• Define barriers to care
• Discuss opportunities for engagement and brainstorm future expectations in HIV Care.
